The Coaching Edge: An introduction to sport psychology and mental skills for sports coaches.

This web-based course for coaches introduces and explores sport psychology and coaching in an understandable format; so often, the difference in sporting excellence is the mental edge.

 

In this course, you will be given cutting edge mental skills, techniques and models that will raise your coaching performance to the next level.

The course is designed in a way which will show you how to continue to develop your coaching practice for current demands.

Some of the areas the course will cover:

• Creating an effective motivational climate for your athletes
• Coaching to develop confidence and self-belief
• How to use routines to overcome performance anxiety
• Effective visualization and mental rehearsal
• Focus and concentration
• Positive coaching and communication
• Group dynamics and coaching

By the end of the course the participants will understand how to integrate sport psychology models and techniques effectively into their coaching practices.

Format: Four x 60 mins webinars(details will be supplied) with supporting material. For the duration of the course participants will have full e-mail support from Donald MacNaughton, international sport psychologist and performance coach.

Dates: 7th, 14th, 21st December 2009 & 11th January 2010. Time: 8-9pm

Cost: Full price £45 (inc vat) or for Coaching Highland members who completed the survey leading to the creation of this course - £35 (inc vat).
