Caithness CC Dinner Dance Feb 2004 as reported in Cycling Weekly (14th March 2004)

25-04-2003
Caithness lads did well at the Tour of the North in Ireland.
The winner was a seasoned chap called Tommy Evans (primes in pro races etc) but 'our very own'  Evan (Scottish U23 captain) had a storming ride to finish 2nd on GC with a stage win and I don't know how many seconds/thirds.   David's mission was to finish   which he did, and felt fine with no real problems because he wasn't out to beast himself before the junior Tour of the Peak.  He had a couple of moments, like leading the Scottish team into the sprint on the stage which Evan won.  The squad had ear pieces so the manager could synchronise pressing the 'ignite' button for the final dash.  Dave said the week went as well as the squad could have hoped.
He's got two months racing for a second division French team starting May 11, which should be a baptism of fire at least one race a week in the Alps!  The club sounds like it's well sorted for all levels of racing though.

Cheers
Julian
