about the raid Highland Wildcat is a purpose-built mountain bike course set in magnificent Highland scenery some 50 miles north of Inverness. Featuring both the longest singletrack climb and descent in the UK together with low level family trails - it is a cycling destination not to be missed The festival will be run over two days, with a programme of activities for under 16’s as well as sideshows and entertainment running alongside the main event. Free camping is available from Friday night with toilets and on-site catering from Saturday. A bike wash facility will be in place at the event base and the British Red Cross will provide first aid cover over the weekend. Over 16's Saturday The Raid begins on Saturday, with a timed 50K cross-country route from the event base over to Strath Brora and returning to Golspie to finish. The route follows a mix of forest road and singletrack from the event base and through Dunrobin Wood, leading you out past Kilmain Wood to Kilmain, where you join a minor road for a short stint before returning to forest roads and singletrack along the side of Loch Brora. The trail follows the length of Loch Brora and continues through Strath Brora, turning just past Dalvaich across the River Brora and joining a minor road. From here, the route continues down the road on the side of Strath Brora and Loch Brora, returning to singletrack from Oldtown until joining a minor road leading back into Kilmain. The route leaves the road for forest tracks through Uppat Wood, and back through Dunrobin Wood and finally rejoins the Wildcat Trails taking you back down to the event base. There will be one drinks station provided en route but we recommend that participants carry their own water, energy drinks and an energy bar or similar snack with them as well.
